We’re not just going high, we’re going all out

BY ABA KWAWU

We started this issue of Luxeicon in what seemed like a different world, before the election shake up that literally shook us all up.

The threat to our country and our democracy is real, and in reaction to the threat of the conservatives’ Project 2025 groundwork, we developed a list of 25 activists, content creators and media personalities (and one nepo baby hire from Vogue) to follow and be inspired by. During this historic time, we need to be well informed and engaged like never before. In other words, stop doom scrolling and get to work.

Which, of course, TAA PR has been doing plenty of work—and life.

Globetrotting is my passion and my privilege; the people, food, music, and cultures of the world are where I draw my inspiration. Spending time in Rwanda was humbling on so many fronts, from witnessing the courage and conviction of a people that overcame a genocide to being in awe of the wildlife, getting to see the majestic mountain gorillas up close. I heard how the gorillas came down the mountain to check on the people of the village when the visitors stopped coming, a reminder of the enduring bond between humans and nature.

On my way back to the U.S., I stopped in Amsterdam to visit the garden and new beauty house at the Pulitzer. While visiting my old stomping grounds of London to celebrate a fashion icon, I was being pampered by our clients. Thank you to the always generous Lore Group for a stay at Sea Containers and to the fine folks at Gordon Ramsay restaurants and the iconic Savoy. I also visited the F1 Arcade in Mayfair for research as we get ready to open in DC later this year… And if you happen to catch me while I’m out, I’ll tell you about the 3 a.m. shawarmas near Oxford Street that have inspired my homemade gyros back in my own kitchen.

With the promise of a non-stop fall season, I’m not sure I’ll have the lazy summers days I’d planned for, but it’s certainly a time to be alive, to feel, to love and to fight for what’s near and dear to our hearts both domestically and in the far-flung places where culture and humanity bind us together.

Remember—we have no time for wringing our hands, let’s get busy!

My Best,

Aba Kwawu
