Creating Connections

BY ABA KWAWU

Something about 2024 feels at once familiar and new. Is this the year we finally get on with it and start to feel like ourselves again? Pantone says it’s the year of Peach Fuzz, a color that is meant to signify connection and compassion. Perhaps leading with these two concepts will lead us into something that feels real. I’m not typically one for New Year’s resolutions, but connecting with friends, colleagues and co-workers feels like a worthy one.

As we journey on into the new year, this first issue of 2024 takes us to London with Creative Director of Lore Group, Jacu Strauss, and into the world of AI with one of the foremost voices in this brave new world, Dr. Joy Buolamwini. We take a look back to the life of a trailblazing Spanish freedom fighter in order to savor the unique culinary experience at Chef Ruben Garcia’s Casa Teresa.

I’m excited for the year ahead, one filled with creating new connections and strengthening those we’ve had for many years. So consider this issue of Luxeicon your official invitation to embrace the new year, get out on the town and create the year you want. I know that’s what I’ll be doing. And I’m looking forward to seeing you in DC, Miami and wherever else TAA’s adventures take me.

My Best,

Aba Kwawu
